Winter Solstice Blessings
Shamans across the world and traditions have been spreading this message in one form or another for weeks, and I feel compelled to share as we draw closer to Winter's Gate. Tomorrow is the Winter's Solstice, and the longest night of the year (also a full moon this year). Exciting times and I notice in my own path the struggle between hustle and bustle and flow of the season and expectations that are put upon us and that we put upon ourselves -- and the juxtaposition of the natural rhythm of the season. I find myself painting my bathroom black. I find myself pulling back. Dancing with emotion in this season of drawing inward, of reflection, of embracing darkness and letting shadows be seen.
It's normal to feel heavy and dark this time of year, and it's ok to notice those parts of you that need more love --and to nurture them. When we being working on fragmented parts of ourselves, it's important to notice energetic holes that may emerge. It's critical to take time to eat good foods, surround yourself with positive people, and make good mind/body/spirit decisions.
This night is powerful Yin energy. It's all about LOVE. Let love be your medicine through grounding prayers of gratitude in the morning, through heart centered meditation, your yoga practices and by simply being and doing nothing.
Our world is an extension of our collective prayers, and dreams and as we move forward into and then out of darkness -- may our prayers be the medicine the world needs. May you be the medicine the world needs, fully at peace and supported by the light that surrounds you and resides within you.
